George: Just thought you might like to see what the rifle did at the range yesterday [with] Federal Premium 180 gr. Vital Shok ammo. The top group was 3 rounds at 100 yards. It measures just a quarter inch from center to center! The second group was adjusted slightly for windage, and was 5 rounds at 100 yards. Not counting the flier — which wasn't my fault, because some idiot had an accidental discharge behind the firing line, and I flinched — the group opened up to just 3/8 inch center to center for 4 shots! I'm impressed! Larry L CLICK HERE TO SEE TARGETS
George: Wonderful hunt --and the Empire was a contributor. Five trophies [including a spontaneous lion charge from 19 paces] and the rifle performed as you claimed. Accurate, accurate, accurate! The best rifle I carried on 7 safaris. David R
Hi George, just returned from a two week safari in South Africa where I used my Empire 375 H & H for everything from a 1700 lb eland to a steen bok. Although I had another rifle along, I used the Empire exclusively; and needless to say, it performed flawlessly. The rifle has exeptional balance, perfect trigger pull, uncanny accuracy, and is so handsome that I almost hesitated to take it to Africa. Thanks for everything - the rifle exceeded my every expectation. Best regards, Steve Kurlansky, Lyme, CT
George, I am very pleased with the empire rifle I purchased. It served me well and performed flawlessly during the [Zimbabwe Lion] hunt . The quick disconnect scope mounts are excellent. They re-zeroed to within 1/2 inch at 70 yards. Good work. Sincerely Don Gossett
Hi George, I have had my Empire Rifle [30.06 Professional Grade] since March, and have been extremely pleased. I have done various testing with factory loads, with most going into near 1/2 MOA. The best one I have found so far is the Hornady Light Magnum 165 grain Interbond, [which] routinely groups into 0.3 MOA. I will be taking this rifle and load to Wyoming in a few weeks for Mule deer. I am positive it will perform as excellent as it looks. Thank you for a beautiful product. --Lonnie H, Cairo GA
. . . and this after hunt report from the same gentleman:
Hi George. I just returned from Wyoming where I took a nice eight point whitetail. I received glowing compliments on your rifle from everyone in camp in regard to performance on the range and looks. I took the deer on day six of a five day hunt. It took all that nature could throw at it. It maintained it's accuracy and zero with perfection. It allowed me to make a one shot kill at 360 yards. Both I and the outfitter where pleased to say the least. Thank you for such a wonderful rifle. Dr. Lonnie H
Received my new Empire rifle in 243 Win. this past month, this is the fifth Empire rifle I have ordered over the past three years from George. As usual this rifle was no different, wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. I was privileged to pick this rifle up at the famous Gunsite Academy in Paulden, AZ from George and Ray themselves. This was a three day hunting prep course including my son, and my primary rifle was my new Empire in 243 win. Here is when my preconceived ideas about rifle-barrel break in went out the window. Long story short I had forgot to bring my 22 cal cleaning rod for the trip so guess what, break-in for this rifle was shoot it an average of 100 times a day for three days --300 rounds without cleaning. Is the barrel ruined, did I shoot it out? I took it home and cleaned it took it to the range and it shot a 5/8 inch five shot group AT 200 YDS! What I found out is that the premium hand lapped barrel on your first or fifth Empire rifle (as in my case) does not need a formal break-in and it will last you for a lifetime of shooting. Thanks George & Ray for a great quality, over-the-top rifle, I'm thinking about ordering # six! --Dirk Lawyer
George: I just wanted to keep you updated on the rifle and hope that all is well. I shot round 600 with my Legacy .270 Win and have a few updates for you. First, I would like to say the rifle has preformed flawlessly, not even one problem. Secondly, the rifle will still shoot .5 MOA with relative ease if I do what I am supposed to. I think that the rifle may just be getting broken and do not know that it has ever shot better. The action seems like it is still new. There is very little wear and it seems as tight as it was the day it received it. I am very pleased with the rifle and hope to shoot it enough to have you re-barrel it someday. Thanks for the great product, Rhett P
Good morning George, I just want to send you [another] update on the Empire Legacy .270 Win. I just shot my 1200th round with my rifle and it preformed flawlessly. I have shot from 100yds. to 600yds. and the rifle will shoot half MOA all day long. I have taken numerous deer and hogs with the rifle and it performs just as well in the field as on the bench. I feel that this action is bullet proof. I have never had a feeding malfunction in 1200 shots and have worked the action 4,000 to 5,000 times. I can truly say that this is the finest rifle that I have ever been around. Keep up the good work. Rhett P
Dear George: You have built me my dream rifle. You knew I was particular --a perfect action fit and a floated barrel that you could not tell was floated, a well contoured barrel that would balance with the synthetic stock, a perfect trigger, [and] world class machining work. That is what I have received, plus a .338 RUM that will shoot a 0.472 group with factory ammo in a barrel that has not been seasoned yet. WOW! Sincerely, Jamie L
Good morning, George. Its a brisk 6 above zero in Anchorage this morning. Yesterday afternoon my new Empire .300 H & H arrived. George, the rifle is everything you said it would be. Just beautiful. But it's a hunting rifle and will be used as such. I will certainly show my rifle and share my thoughts on Empire's quality to my hunting friends up here and in Texas. You have an excellent product and I wish you well in your enterprise. --Reg
