EMPIRE 98 ACTIONS

Empire Rifles uses only newly-manufactured Mauser 98 actions.  All are double square bridge.  The 98 is the strongest, most reliable action ever designed.  The Mauser is a Chinese puzzle of inter-working parts requiring more machine time to make than any other action --as the action is the heart of the rifle, we think it worth the extra investment. 

The double square-bridge design is more rigid than others, and allows the scope bases to be integral to the receiver rings –supremely strong with fewer parts.  The Empire 98S action is head and shoulders above the competition.

Special Thanks: We owe a debt of gratitude to Mr. Fred Wells of Prescott AZ for his time spent answering our simple question: "How do you improve a Mauser?"  The result is the Empire 98 action.

Empire's proprietary 98S Mauser actions are engineered for accuracy.  Rigidity contributes to accuracy -this is why a thick barrel will typically out-perform thin.  The Empire 98S is non-round, making these actions more rigid than most others.  The Empire actions have a deeper barrel tenon, allowing more of the barrel shank to be mated to the receiver, adding rigidity.  The underside of the Empire actions are flat and straight, as seen on tactical and varmint actions, ensuring 100% bedding contact, again for accuracy.  Our Field Grade stocks (except Liberty) have CNC-machined aluminum bedding blocks, making the stock more rigid.  All Walnut stocks are pillar bedded, with extra crossbolts and recoil lugs when needed. 

This carefully thought out system is married to the excellent Mauser design, making an Empire Rifle as reliable as it is accurate.  We did not invent the Mauser design, we simply borrow it and apply the latest machining techniques to the best raw materials, the way Peter Paul Mauser might approach this project today.
